Country Line Magazine and SXSW Present Country in a Big Way

Austin, Texas: For the first time ever, the SXSW Music and Media Conference which showcases hundreds of musical acts from around the globe on over eighty stages in downtown Austin each March, put together a hard core country showcase in partnership with Country Line Magazine.
“The shows were Friday and Saturday nights March 20, 21. We have talked about working with SXSW for quite a while and this year it just all came together. In our 15 years of publishing and marketing country music we have never worked with an organization as professional and energized as SXSW,” said Sandra Greaney marketing director for Country Line Magazine. “I was amazed at the whole system and how SXSW works behind the scenes. It was fantastic.”
The host venue was The Ranch on West 6th street, the number one club in Austin, and the tented balcony provided cover for the perfect open air stage. The floor was standing room only as the bands hammered out their 40 minute sets each night to an eager country audience.
The incredible music lineup included The Bill Rice Band, Walt Wilkins, Chad Hudson, Susan Hickman, The Dirt Drifters, Leo Stokes, Ruby Jane, Jeffrey Steele, Brandon Rhyder, Codie Prevost, Jason Eady and Dale Watson. This list includes one of Texas music’s biggest draws, the number one Nashville songwriter, the youngest artist to ever play SXSW, a hot new band from Canada, the classic country troubadour and more.
The bands, the SXSW staging crew, the audience and the staff at the Ranch were all thumbs up after the two packed nights. “We were proud to bring a true country showcase to SXSW and are ready to start planning next year,” Greaney said. “We have already had bands ask us how they could be a part of it and I am talking some big names, but for now, I’m not talking, folks will have to “stay tuned for more”.
